South Miami

South Miami is a city in Miami-Dade County, bordering the city of Coral Gables and the Village of Pinecrest. Encompassing 2.5 square miles and home to more than 12,000 residents, the city is known for its lush tree-lined neighborhoods, picturesque parks, and a lively downtown area featuring a vibrant assortment of historic landmarks, top-rated dining venues, and one-of-a-kind boutiques and specialty stores.

Incorporated in 1927, South Miami is one of the oldest municipalities in Miami-Dade County. Years following its incorporation, the city’s original size was reduced in 1933 and again in 1937, which explains why it has the most uneven boundaries of any city within the county. South Miami is a member of Sister Cities International, with sister cities in the island countries of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Serving South Miami’s central business district is the Miami Metrorail, which offers easy access to Downtown Miami, Downtown Kendall, and the Miami International Airport via Miami Central Station. The city also offers convenient access to a wide variety of nearby destinations such as The Shops at Sunset Place, the Miami Design District, Miami Beach, and Wynwood. In addition to its vibrant downtown area and terrific nearby destinations, South Miami also features exciting events year-round, including block parties, festivals, car shows, and more.

South Miami is an excellent choice for anyone looking forward to a relaxing, laidback lifestyle, along with convenient access to many of the best attractions and amenities in South Florida.
