Bay Harbor Islands is a vibrant community located in Miami-Dade County and is currently home to over 5,700 residents. The community is located at the northern end of Miami Beach and connected to the Miami mainland via the Broad Causeway.
The start of Bay Harbor Islands can be traced back to 1945 when New York lawyer Shepard Broad and his wife Ruth purchased two undeveloped mangrove islands. As the islands were being developed, their venture was later on joined by Benjamin N. Kane, a successful businessman (the town’s main thoroughfare was named in honor of Kane). The islands were officially incorporated as the Town of Bay Harbor Islands in 1947.
